Teaching Philosophy The golf swing is an athletic movement. Players will learn best by doing and it is a teacher’s responsibly to encourage the student and build a relationship so that the student has fun with the learning. I believe that positions, beyond setup, are over taught to beginner students who don't yet have the basis to know where their body is and thus cannot make changes to a new position while in-swing. In this sense we must nudge them onto the right path for correct mechanics while letting them discover the movements on their own. This is not to say you cannot correct a students mechanical flaw, it is to say that if you are going to correct a flaw do your best to let students discover the fix as they will internalize the fix better. Think of it like learning to throw a baseball or shoot a basketball. People learn best by doing not being told. Interests Hiking & Camping Biking Reading |
